Giants roll past Falcons, 24-2

The New York Giants gave up the first two points of the game and that didn’t let the Atlanta Falcons score again in a 24-2 victory.

New York scored 10 points right before halftime to take control of the game and began to pull away at the end of the third quarter.

The Giants came up with a couple of key stops on fourth down and short to get the ball back and take away an Atlanta scoring chance.

In the end, the Giants showed tremendous offensive balance and the Falcons had no answer for Hakeem Nicks. (Read More…)

Giants won’t trade Umenyiora

The New York Giants have rescinded defensive end Osi Umenyiora’s trade window, meaning he will likely stay put.

The Giants gave Umenyiora and his agent the green light to seek a trade just to see what they might be able to get in return.

New York was hoping to get a first round pick, but eventually had to drop their offer to a second rounder.

Even then, teams weren’t biting. The Giants weren’t pleased with offers of a third-round pick, so they decided it was time to shut down the distraction. (Read More…)

Barber returning to football

Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber has announced his intention to return to the NFL.

However, his return won’t be with the Giants, who said that they will release him once the paperwork is filed.

Barber suddenly retired a few years ago, saying he wanted to go out in his prime and avoid any long-lasting injuries.

However, the running back said his football fire has returned after watching his brother, Ronde, become rejuvenated by the Bucs’ turnaround. (Read More…)

Bradshaw has ankle surgery

New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw underwent surgery on his left ankle to clean it out.

Bradshaw took over the team’s starting running back duties from Brandon Jacobs early last season.

He said that the left ankle bothered him throughout the season, but wasn’t a big factor unless someone grabbed it.

Still, the Giants have to be excited about the possibility of Bradshaw being 100 percent healthy heading into next season. (Read More…)

Where will Burress end up?

Former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress is set to be released from prison and make a potential return to football.

It’s unknown what time of punishment he may face from commissioner Roger Goodell, but that isn’t stopping teams from showing interest.

The Baltimore Ravens are looking for a guy that can stretch the field, but Burress doesn’t seem like a John Harbaugh guy.

The New York Jets could also be interested because Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edward are both free agents. (Read More…)

Giants edge Redskins, 17-14

The quickly fading New York Giants held on for a 17-14 victory over the rival Washington Redskins.

The Giants didn’t put forth an inspiring performance, but it was enough to put pressure on Green Bay.

Wide receiver Mario Manningham record the team’s longest play from scrimmage this year, a 92-yard touchdown reception.

With the Packers win over the Chicago Bears, the Giants were officially eliminated from playoff contention. (Read More…)

Nicks out for season finale

The New York Giants already have enough problems, and now they will be without a key player for the season finale.

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, their top playmaker, will miss the game because of a broken big toe in his left foot.

The Giants are already without wideout Steve Smith for the rest of the season and Mario Manningham has been battling a hip injury.

New York must beat Washington and then have Green Bay lost to Chicago to make the playoffs as the final wild card team. (Read More…)

Giants fall apart against Eagles, 38-31

The New York Giants completely unravelled in an unbelievable, 38-31 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

New York turned a game they were dominating into a devastating loss that could cost them a berth in the playoffs.

The Giants held 24-3 and 31-10 leads in the second half but could not hold on for the victory.

The final dagger came when the Giants gave up a punt return for the game-winning score as time expired. (Read More…)

Giants knocked off by Cowboys, 33-20

The New York Giants did not look like the best team in the NFC in a 33-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Divisional games are tough, but the Giants never expected hapless Dallas to come into their stadium and leave with a win.

The Giants defense did an excellent job on first and second down but too often was burnt blitzing on third down.

It seemed like the Cowboys always hit on a big play in third-and-long situations, and the Giants did not tackle particularly well. (Read More…)

Jacobs requests trade

New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is requesting a trade because of his lack of playing time.

Jacobs lost out on the starting running back job to Ahmad Bradshaw in the preseason and hasn’t been happy about it.

He only received four carries for eight yards in Week 2 and then angrily threw his helmet, which accidentally flew into the stands.

Fans became angered at Jacobs, who then exchanged some heated words before head coach Tom Coughlin got in his face. (Read More…)
