New York Giants safety Kenny Phillips finally returned to practice after missing football for the past 11 months.

The team’s star safety missed all of last season after undergoing microfracture surgery on his left knee in September.

The loss of Phillips was a big reason why the Giants defense struggled so much and the team failed to make the playoffs.

While Phillips has returned to practice, head coach Tom Coughlin is going to bring him along slowly.

Phillips said he never had any doubts about returning to football because doctors told him he would make a full recovery.
